SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic echocardiograms/stress tests abiding by all rules, policies and procedures with Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical center, state, local and federal mandates. He/she performs diagnostic procedures according to the patient’s needs through the attending physician’s request. A high degree of proficiency, accuracy and customer service skills are required to provide excellent service to the customer base in an on-going consistent manner while exercising good judgment in performance of procedures and providing good patient care.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


High school diploma or GED required


Graduation from an accredited training program in Cardiac and/or General diagnostic radiology (Certificate in Cardiac Sonography) required


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Associate Degree preferred


Two years of cardiac ultrasound work experience preferred


LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:


American Heart Association “BLS” Provider certification required


RDCS Certification from ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medial Sonographers) or RCS Certification from CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) required
